Booking Through Thursday: Reading Challenges

Welcome to Booking Through Thursday, a weekly bookish meme about books and reading for everyone who loves both. Booking Through Thursday was first hosted by Deb. With permission, I’ve restarted it in 2026.

This week’s prompt:

Do you participate in any reading challenges throughout the year? If so, let us know (and feel free to share a link to the challenge).

Or maybe you have one of your own devising. Maybe it’s simply a goal to make a dent in your TBR pile.

Whatever the case, happy reading!

Are you participating in one (or several) reading challenges in 2026?

How to play:

  • On your blog: Copy the question/image for your blog, answer it there, and post a quick comment here with a link or trackback to your post so we can read it.
  • On social media: Copy the image, answer the prompt, and post a quick comment here with a link.
  • Right here: Answer in the comments and start the discussion here. No need to have a blog to play.

Note: If it’s your first time here, your comment may end up in moderation. (My spam filter is aggressive.) I’ll be in after my writing sprints to set it free.

P.S. The prompt is always open, and you don’t have to play on Thursday. Comment whenever you like!

  1. I’ve decided to do an in-person challenge this year. I’m lucky enough to live in an area with a terrific library system, with several libraries that host book clubs.

So, I’m heading out one Sunday a month to participate. I’m really looking forward to it.

    1. Interesting… I hadn’t thought of my book club as a challenge so much as an essential part of my social life. Given how the books drive me crazy and I seldom finish them, though, maybe it is a challenge!

      Hope you enjoy yours!

  2. Well, Charity, I consider telling this group what I’m reading each Thursday to be a reading challenge. Ha! And sorry I’m late this time.

I’m reading Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink. It’s a story of a hospital in New Orleans during Katrina. Riveting! I checked it out of the library last summer but I was so busy I didn’t have a chance to get too far into it before the library needed it back. But I scored it for $1.99 on Kindle and happily put side my other book–also riveting–in order to finish this one.

My audiobook this week is My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite. Twisted but a lot of fun.

    1. Hi Julie! You can pick any day to comment. The posts are always open. Interestingly enough, My Sister, the Serial Killer is the February book for my library book club. I’m glad to hear it’s a lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hi Charity and everyone. I’m still reading Five Days at Memorial. It’s such a great book. I feel like I’m right there with the patients, doctors, nurses, and rescue personnel and, I suppose, that’s why it’s taking me a while to read it. What these people went through…wow. Just wow.

A murder mystery will be a light change of pace!
