Booking Through Thursday: favorite format

Welcome to Booking Through Thursday, a weekly bookish meme about books and reading for everyone who loves both. Booking Through Thursday was first hosted by Deb. With permission, I’ve restarted it in 2026.

This week’s prompt:

In honor of Read an Ebook Week, let’s talk about formats. Do you have a favorite?

Do you have a favorite format—be it paper, electronic, or audio—for reading? Does it depend on when and where you’re reading? Or are you a single-format-only reader?

How to play:

  • On your blog: Copy the question/image for your blog, answer it there, and post a quick comment here with a link or trackback to your post so we can read it.
  • On social media: Copy the image, answer the prompt, and post a quick comment here with a link.
  • Right here: Answer in the comments and start the discussion here. No need to have a blog to play.

Note: If it’s your first time here, your comment may end up in moderation. (My spam filter is aggressive.) I’ll be in after my writing sprints to set it free.

P.S. The prompt is always open, and you don’t have to play on Thursday. Comment whenever you like!

  1. I like them all! I still buy (and borrow) print books, ebooks, and audio books. Since I’m now officially a woman of a certain age, I have issues, like some hand arthritis (yes, this is no fun with the writing as well, not to mention gardening).

I really like my e-reader because all I need to do is prop it on a pillow to read. I love audio because the story can keep me company when I’m doing chores. And I’ll never stop loving print.

So, no playing favorites for me.

  2. I am an ebook girl, all the way. My eyes are getting old. I like making the text any size and typeface I want, plus having control over the background color, plus, as you mentioned, it’s just easier to hold. Bonus benefit: I can read until I’m sleepy and then just turn it off, rather than having to get up and turn off a lamp. 🙂
