For us here in Minnesota, it does depend on what the mosquitoes are doing. But I do enjoy reading outside, more often out of the sun, so on a screened-in porch or under some shade.
Back in the day, I also did a fair amount of outdoor (in a tent) reading during “quiet time” at sleep-away camp. When I became a camp counselor, I realized that “quiet time” was more for the counselors than the campers.
I find the outdoors way too distracting — look! a butterfly! — to be a favorite place to read. Plus, if it’s too warm, I’m likely to fall asleep; if it’s too cold, I’ll head indoors. The uncomfortable truth is, I’m a bit of a princess and the pea kind of reader: being able to control light and room temperature is far too important to me.
Yep, falling asleep when it’s too warm is a thing.
