Booking Through Thursday: juggling books

Welcome to Booking Through Thursday, a weekly bookish meme about books and reading for everyone who loves both. Booking Through Thursday was first hosted by Deb. With permission, I’ve restarted it in 2026.

This week’s prompt:

Do you have more than one book on the go at any time? Does it depend on the genre? Maybe you can juggle fiction and nonfiction, but not two of the same? Or are you a one-book-at-a-time reader?

Do you read multiple books at once?

How to play:

  • On your blog: Copy the question/image for your blog, answer it there, and post a quick comment here with a link or trackback to your post so we can read it.
  • On social media: Copy the image, answer the prompt, and post a quick comment here with a link.
  • Right here: Answer in the comments and start the discussion here. No need to have a blog to play.

Note: If it’s your first time here, your comment may end up in moderation. (My spam filter is aggressive.) I’ll be in after my writing sprints to set it free.

P.S. The prompt is always open, and you don’t have to play on Thursday. Comment whenever you like!

  1. So, I usually have a longer nonfiction book going, but then also fiction as well. I love my ebook, but after spending so many hours on the computer, I’m finding that I really like reading print these days.

    1. Me, too. I’m forever pairing long nonfiction with faster-paced memoir, essays, and fiction. Depending on the nature of the long nonfiction, it might serve as the bass line for any number of lighter reading book. My life is too fractured lately to allow for reading any more than two books at a time. I have no idea how I ever made it through the reading demands of my university days…
