Wait. Where did September go?

No, seriously. How is it almost October? I don’t understand. Granted, I’ve been heads down, wrapping up everything for the release of The Pansy Paradox in two weeks. Two weeks! Again, how did that happen?

This week, I attended a book release/launch deep-dive sponsored by Becca Syme and The Better-Faster Academy. One thing I learned is that the number of “touchpoints” required to make a sale has increased from seven to twenty-one. (And a quick search tells me it could be even more, depending.)

Y’all, I feel like I’m annoying people if I mention a release more than once.

On the other hand, I don’t mind hearing news about releases from authors. In fact, I’m always happy to discover a new release.

The other takeaway was to experiment, learn, and do things that sound like fun (or are relatively easy), and don’t sweat it.

So that’s what I’m going to do.

Also, what I’m going to do, at least today, is get out of the house and away from screens. It’s gorgeous out (see the photo above), and I’m not sure how many more days like this are left in 2025.

Weekly writing check-in: farewell, autumn

Another maple, showing off.

I started the week with this gorgeous girl right here. It wasn’t warm, but it certainly wasn’t cold.

Yet.

By the end of the week, I was pulling out my winter parka to walk the dogs. And my poor maple has lost most of her leaves. She’s looking chilly these days.

This week, I spent most of my time getting stories proofed and posted. I have all of November’s scheduled, and I’m into early December. I want them all up and ready to go before WordPress closes that back door to the classic editor (which I’m tying in now, quite happily, thank you very much).

So that’s my goal for the next week or two. Stories scheduled. Then I’ll deal with the new WordPress editor.

Weekly writing check-in: fabulous fall

I am maple; I am gorgeous.

Sadly, it seems that our fox has left us. I keep checking the backyard, but he hasn’t made an appearance this week.

On the other hand, our maple has been putting on quite the show. So, there’s that.

This week in writing, I’ve been going over the remaining Fridays in 2020, and I think, think, I have a story for each one. I spent this week/weekend working on images and editing and getting the first couple of stories for October posted.

This always takes longer than I think it will. Even so, I’m pleased with my progress and really pleased I can see a story for each upcoming Friday.

Weekly writing check-in: sugar maple show-off

I missed checking in last week due to a big event my Girl Scout troop hosted. This week, I’ve been down with a virus (fortunately just that) so I’m not quite done with the novella. Almost. I can see the end from here, and I’m excited to get back to it.

So this week, this week, I’m hoping to finish up the novella. Then, it’s thinking time. I’m not sure what I’ll tackle next. The third draft of the series starter? Maybe. Or maybe I’ll let that rest for a little while longer and revise another novel that’s been on the back burner.

We’ll see.

That’s it for this week. Until next time, I’ll leave you with all those gorgeous leaves.
