Look who I spied on the Hummingbird cam today:

It’s a male ruby-throated hummingbird scoping out some territory for a lady friend (or so I assume). He does not seem all that impressed with the (currently-empty) raised bed in the background. Fair enough; it’s not all that impressive.
But it’s good to have the hummingbirds back, no matter what their attitude.

We get hummingbirds here in Northern Sonora (Phoenix area) as well:

Oh, those are lovely. I envy you all the varieties. We just have the ruby-throated here, May – Oct. I keep my feeders out until November to help along those migrating late.
Nice picture! We haven’t seen any hummingbirds yet this year — too cold? — but my memory is that they don’t always like to pose.
If I didn’t have the camera feeder, I wouldn’t have any pictures of hummingbirds. They’ll check out what I’m doing in the garden, but won’t stick around for a photo.
