Remember way back in May when I waxed nostalgic about Betsy-Tacy books over at Jennifer Hubbard’s blog?
Well, one thing led to another (as things are wont to do) and I will be on the author panel and signing books on July 21, 2012 at the Betsy-Tacy Convention in my hometown of Mankato, Minnesota.
Am I excited? Completely. Is Kyra, who will be going with me? Also completely. We will, of course, need new outfits befitting such an event.
It just goes to show you: You never know where your writing might take you. In my case, it’s taking me back home–and I couldn’t be happier.
So excited to announce that The Geek Girl’s Guide to Cheerleading is a YALSA 2012 Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults pick in the Get Your Geek On category!
In fact, I’m so excited, I keep checking the list–and then zooming past our listing. Then I’m all:

Then I check again. Yes, yes. We’re (still) there.

Our editor emailed us the other day to let us know that The Geek Girl’s Guide to Cheerleading was nominated for the 2012 Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults list, which is sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) of the American Library Association. Geek Girl is nominated in the Get Your Geek On category (appropriately enough).
Be sure to click through and check out all the books on the list. It could keep you reading all summer long. Plus, other 2009 Debs are keeping us company, such as Jennifer Hubbard (The Secret Year) and Jennifer Brown (Hate List).
I hope to post a recap of the MEMO conference in the next few days. Short review: It was fun! I had a blast and sold some books.

Yes, it’s true. Geek Girl has gone where no geek girl has gone before (that we know of):
That’s right! We’re in American Cheerleader Magazine, or more precisely, there’s a review of The Geek Girl’s Guide to Cheerleading in the May/June 2010 issue (which we haven’t seen yet, but copies are on the way).
And Darcy and I chatted some more with senior editor Brittany Geragotelis for an interview on their website here: Time Out With: Authors Charity Tahmaseb & Darcy Vance.
