So! I took my Girl Scout troop to the roller derby once again. And you know what that means. This will be a very short entry.

Even so, I turned in my graphic design homework and made progress on the new series. And that’s about it, for this week and this post.

This week looks a lot like last week. I’m still in class, working on a new series (or so I hope), and reading/researching. I’m also hoping to start in on a reading challenge this year. I haven’t done one for a while, but War Through the Generations is hosting a stress-free World War II reading challenge this year. Check out their read-along books as well. I’ve been meaning to read All the Light We Cannot See, which is up first in March.

I also have a new book of my own (well, technically a novella). I’m closing in on the end of the very last episode of Coffee & Ghosts. I’m thinking I’ll finish it up this week.
I’ve been working through Vellum as well, and as it says below, lots and lots of Vellum (because I have lots and lots of books to format).

So while I’m not quite doing A Story a Day in May, I am writing and finishing stories (more or less). This week, I ended up with three short stories, each a bit longer than typical flash fiction. I also have one in progress, which will go into this coming week’s total.
But I’m pleased with the challenge so far. I love reading and writing short stories and this has been a great way to experiment and try new things.
Also? I’m just a little bit distracted by the upcoming release of Simply the Best. Short stories make it far easier to get my regular writing in.

So last week I did a topic chat at Writers Village University about how to go about submitting short work to markets. And then I followed that up by not submitting anything at all this week. Well played, right?
But! I have a publication this week. Chicken Fat and Whipped Cream is up at Easy Street.
Other than those two rejections, I had a good week with +6,000 words in season three of Coffee & Ghosts. I’m closing in on the end of the first episode (at least, I think I am), although it still doesn’t have a ghostly title.
Other than feeling sad about Prince–we’re all sad here in Minnesota–it was a pretty productive week.

Chicken Fat and Whipped Cream over at Easy Street.
Quiet holiday week here. I did a lot of baking and a little cleaning and even got some writing work in as well.
I finished up the revisions on the story I was working on–I added about 3,000 more words total. A few new scenes to round out what I was hoping to do with the story.
Next step is to proof it and maybe send it out for a beta read.
We didn’t have a white Christmas, but we did get some snow yesterday. Enough for sledding, which made my daughter very happy.
Also, I spent a fair amount of time tugging the creature pictured above out of the tree. We now have several cat-sized holes in the branches.

A quiet week with a bit of a cold snap–and a cold for me.
Even so, I got some writing work in. I’m working on a short story, did some design reading, and spent a wonderful few hours writing at the coffee shop yesterday while my daughter was at a holiday party.
One rejection, a fast one (I don’t mind those, plus it was a very nice personal one). I’ll have to search out another market this week.
And that’s about it. It’s kind of nice to have a quiet week after the flurry of activity of two releases within two weeks of each other. (Yeah. That was kind of crazy.)
