What’s your (blog) type?

Yet another fascinating way to waste time since I discovered Wordle. I give you

Typealyzer

It analyzes your blog (or really, anyone’s blog) and suggests what personality type you are, or at least what you’re writing personality type is when you blog. How’s that for specific?

Writing Wrongs happens to be The Mechanics:

The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.

The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.

That’s it. I’m giving up writing and racing cars for a living. Or not. Still, this might explain the whole jumping out of airplanes thing.

Our day at the Renaissance Festival

In pictures!

Ready to have a good knight er, day at the fair. Kyra’s shirt says Recycle My Brother.  The people working the fair found it very amusing.

It’s mandatory that at least one family member eat the giant, smoked turkey leg.

I was going to make some “make no bones about it” joke, but I’ll refrain.

This woman was beautiful. She was playing a flute and giving out “fairy stones” to little girls.

Kyra gets ready for her llama ride. I have no llama jokes.

Andrew makes a new friend.

Then he rides the elephant, who was very friendly.

The Geek Girl’s Guide to Fonts

You Are Andale Mono

You are a geek, pure and simple. You spend a lot of time online.

In fact, you probably love the internet more than anyone you know.

You are picky about design, mostly for readability’s sake.

You are the type most likely to be irritated by a bad font.

This is so appropriate for a technical writer. Never witnessed a font war? Good times.

In other Geek Girl news, the manuscript is official and accepted and off to copy editing. I think Darcy is officially taking a nap. I know she deserves one. I’m officially going to watch some synchronized swimming.

Housebound

What the House Test Says About You

You are happy with who you are, and you don’t have an inflated sense of self importance. You do your own thing quietly. You don’t take up a lot of space.

You aren’t against being community oriented, but it’s not really your thing. You tend to prefer to focus on your family and not the neighborhood around you.

You are a calm, contemplative, and smart person. You take ideas very seriously. You look good in a low maintenance sort of way. You do the minimum required to be attractive.

You are moved by your own inner sense of peace. You spend a lot of time reflecting on the meaning of life.

For someone who’s supposed to be housebound working on edits, I’ve seen a lot of the sun today:

  • Morning pages on the back deck when the clouds were gold and pink
  • Interval training on my three-mile run
  • Driving Andrew to help with an Eagle Scout project
  • PIcking him up
  • Going to the store for lunch and dinner ingredients. Mmm. Fried chicken and biscuits. On sale. Even better, all I have to do is stick it in the oven. Nice.

That grumbling you hear is Darcy wondering then I’ll start my part of the edits. I’m starting. Really. Right … about … now.

When planets talk

I think I’ve confessed my fifth-grade sense of humor when it comes to the planet Uranus. Or rather, the “old school” pronunciation of Uranus. It makes me laugh. It has always made me laugh. It always will make me laugh. I make no apologies.

So, imagine my excitement when I read this month’s horoscope* and found:

You have an excellent day coming up on May 12, when Jupiter and Uranus will be in gorgeous communication with one another.

I have no idea what this means, but I like the sound of it. I’m marking May 12 on the calendar.

*Perfectly sensible writers read their horoscopes. This is because so much of publishing is out of their control. If you have to listen to someone, it might as well be Uranus.

Well, what do you think?

I admit, it’s easier to use than D-land, but unless I want to download WordPress, there’s stuff I can’t do in the HTML. Not that I’m all that great. Still it’s nice to know I can stare under the hood of my blog, so to speak.

 So. Thinking.

Thoughts?

Updated to add: Okay, it’s so much easier to figure things out in the morning, especially after a cup or three of coffee. I figured out how to get widgets into my sidebar. Dude, I can’t live without widgets in my sidebar, not that I really had any before.

I am also working on the blogroll, so if you don’t see yourself there–and want to be–or see yourself there–and don’t want to be–let me know.
