Ghosts and Consequences

Reluctant necromancer Katy Lindstrom is worried about mixing business with pleasure. All she wants is a few hours alone with her more-than-a-business-partner, Malcolm Armand.

Before they can sort through their feelings over a cup of Kona blend, another necromancer lands on Katy’s doorstep.

Malcolm’s father.

He brings with him tales of old betrayals and fresh lies. But a bigger danger lurks in Springside—a powerful ghost sent to destroy Malcolm’s brother.

Exorcising this particular ghost won’t be easy, especially since it has whispered tales of its own, ones that sound eerily familiar, ones that link Katy’s family to Malcolm’s.

Even if Katy and Malcolm can eradicate this ghost, one thing is clear:

Falling in love is the last thing they should do.

Weekly writing check-in: the one with trick or treat

So, a quiet week this week. Final proof of Ghosts and Consequences. I sent the book to the Coffee & Ghosts review list and got the pre-order ready to go for the sale date of October 31st.

That’s right. Halloween is the day! (Although, truthfully, you can buy a copy on Amazon already).

I did get the chance to dive into episode two, and I’m revising that. Also percolating a few short story ideas … we’ll see if those come to anything.

Weekly writing check-in: the one with the award

So, it was a banner week this week. First, I sold audio rights to Escape Pod for In a Manner of Speaking, which first appeared in Selfies from the End of the World: Historical Accounts of the Apocalypse.

Then I was notified that Dating on the Dork Side placed first in the 2016 International Digital Awards. I kept the fact that I entered a secret from Darcy. One, I didn’t want her to be disappointed if the novel didn’t place. Two, on the chance it did? I wanted to surprise her.

I finished up revising episode one of season three, and I’m working on episode two while episode one is being proofed. Then it’s onto the formatting and uploading and all the rest. Halloween. I’m hoping for an on-sale date of Halloween because … ghosts.

Weekly writing check-in: the one where I dive into the revision

A quiet week where I made a lot of progress, but it’s the sort of progress that isn’t all that exciting to write about. Watch me read! Watch me take some notes! My, that’s a nice book map I have there.

See? Revision isn’t much of a spectator sport.

And that was pretty much my week. It feels like I did a lot, but now that I’m here, describing it, not so much. Some writing weeks are like that.

Weekly writing check-in: the one where I miss National Coffee Day

Did you know there was such a thing as National Coffee Day? And did you know it was on September 29th? Neither did I.

Well, clearly I blew it this year. But next year? I’m all over that. There will be a celebration.

Making progress this week with the Coffee & Ghosts revisions. Lots of reading and thinking, but I have a plan, and I really hope to start publishing the season on October 31st (Halloween, of course!).

In other writing news, my daughter’s Girl Scout troop is starting work on the Novelist badge. Did you know there was such a thing? Well, there is. We’ve picked our book to read “as an editor” and I’ve found some great online classes to get us started writing stories.
